Each product is designed in-house by a team of young passionate professionals. Our mission is to create timeless pieces that can’t be found anywhere else, so your space stays uniquely you.

Based in our Melbourne, Richmond location, our showroom is open to the public for walk-ins and complimentary 1-on-1 style consultations. Our customers may be looking for one piece of furniture or furnishing their entire home. Our job is to make this a seamless and enjoyable shopping experience.

We are after a dynamic and experienced Design Consultant to join our Richmond showroom. This is an opportunity to showcase your customer service skills, design expertise, sales skills, and creative flair.

As a showroom design consultant at RJ Living, you’ll get to:

  • Guide customers on their journey through our showroom space.
  • Help customers create a beautiful home effortlessly by building a vision for customers through product selection and pairing, spatial planning, and colour selection via mood boards.
  • Drive sales to help hit showroom daily, weekly, and monthly team targets.
  • Provide expert advice to customers on the full range of RJ Living products and services, especially the in-house and online design services.
  • Be an ambassador for the brand – you will be the face of RJ Living offline, bringing the brand to life for our customers.
  • Provide your expert product knowledge enthusiastically and answer specific client queries to offer solutions to their furnishing needs.
  • Participate in the day-to-day maintenance and visual merchandising of the showroom

Your Experience

What you bring to the table

We don’t expect you to tick all the boxes, because we know the right person for the job will be able to learn what they need to succeed. So don’t be afraid to apply if you don’t have a university degree, have recently switched careers, or even have career gaps - everyone is welcome regardless.

  • A passion for retail, interiors and design
  • Enthusiasm and optimistic attitude, even in challenging situations, to create a welcoming atmosphere for customers and promote a positive working environment
  • Experience in the furniture and homewares industry is ideal
  • A proven track record for exceeding sales targets and customer feedback scores
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a warm phone manner
  • The ability to build relationships with customers and prioritise their needs in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a proactive approach
  • The ability to learn new programs and systems quickly
  • Availability to work weekends
  • Qualifications in Interiors or another design-related field (or you are currently studying a relevant discipline)
