About Your Role

The Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) pharmacist coordinates the activities of the service in collaboration with the AMS Committee to:-

• Improve the appropriateness of antimicrobial (and anti-infective) use across the hospital, by antimicrobial stewardship and education to other health care professionals and patients, participating as an active member of a multidiscipline team.
• Reduce antimicrobial resistance rates, morbidity and mortality
• Reduce healthcare costs
• Within the context of the AMS, play a key leadership role in addressing and achieving the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards with a particular focus on;

Standard 3 - Preventing and Controlling Healthcare Associated Infections and
Standard 4 - Medication Safety.
