A fantastic opportunity has become available for a bilingual Chinese / English experienced National Purchasing Manager to lead and elevate a well-established procurement function. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day performance of the Purchasing Department and managing a small but capable team, while driving strategic purchasing initiatives across the business.

The Role
As the National Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for leading the Purchasing Department and managing all procurement operations across the business. Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, you will oversee purchasing strategies, supplier engagement, inventory coordination, and freight logistics, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with industry standards. This role will suit a hands-on and detail-driven leader who is passionate about supply chain optimisation.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor Purchasing Officers
- Ensure the purchasing team is being trained to perform all tasks in accordance with purchasing, quality, and WHS policies and procedures
- Develop and execute purchasing strategies aligned with company objectives
- Manage end-to-end procurement processes, including order placement, quotation analysis, and supplier follow-up
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date delivery timelines in the Pronto ERP system
- Coordinate with the Global Supply Chain Manager and internal stakeholders to assess supplier options
- Oversee freight forwarding and shipment consolidation to optimise logistics and reduce costs
- Handle non-conforming product returns and supplier performance issues
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and supply chain
Skills/Experience
- Bilingual capability in English and Chinese with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Extensive experience in global supply chain or procurement
- Previous experience in a management role
- Proven ability to build and maintain supplier relationships
- Strong commercial and analytical skills, with a problem-solving mindset
- High level of attention to detail, organisational skills, and time management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (including v-lookups and pivot tables)
