Life Choice has been serving the Fraser Coast as a not for profit provider for almost 30 years and we are looking for new team members focused on compassion & commitment, just like us.

We are currently looking for three type of Support Workers:

• Those currently working for other providers who want to work for a more professional organisation – aiming to protect, support and develop both participants & staff;
• Support Workers wanting long term careers within the disability sector & NDIS in a range of potential roles in the future;
• Mature minded people looking for a career change, but who understand that disability support work is not just taking people out for coffees and appointments. It can also be challenging, although always rewarding.

You are a master of your own domain in terms of work with Life Choice:

• Want higher working hours?
• The more work hours availability you have and / or flexibility to pick up extra shifts the better. Available shifts 24 hours a day.
• Professionalism & positive participant feedback is also important for additional hours.
• Only want limited work? That's fine too, we will look to match you with suitable available participants.

Life Choice is also conscious of worker fatigue and linked potential risks to participants. So, if you are wanting an organisation willing to work their employees regularly above standard full-time hours, Life Choice may not be the place for you.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Your days will be filled with excitement and diversity as you play a crucial role in enhancing people's lives, providing them with essential support and assistance. This may include:

• Assisting Participants in improving their independent living skills
• Supporting participants with communication and social skills.
• Community engagement, such as attending appointments, grocery shopping or other social or recreational activities of their choice
• Provide guidance and assistance in domestic responsibilities including meal preparation and light household cleaning.
• Assisting with administering and accurately recording medication, as required.
• Providing support with personal care, including showering, toileting, dressing and more.
• Completing written reports in alignment with Life Choice policies and procedures.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

Essential:

• A positive, can-do attitude
• Ability to work flexibly across a 7-day rostering both Maryborough & Hervey Bay
• Passionate about providing client centred individual support
• Authentic passion for assisting others in reaching their life goals
• Current Qld Driver’s License

Hold or be willing to obtain (essential):

• Current First Aid and CPR certificate
• NDIS Worker Screening Card (Yellow Card)
• Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
• Criminal History Check

Beneficial:

• Prior experience supporting someone with a disability
• Experience working with behaviours and following PBSP’s
• Experience attending to personal cares
• Certificate III (or higher) in Individual Support or equivalent qualification (or working towards)
