We are seeking a full time, talented chef to lead our kitchen at a thriving cafe in Sanctuary Cove.

We run a breakfast and smaller lunch menu with operating hours of 6am - 2pm 7 days a week (From time to time we also provide catering and function services).

Experience in cafe and / or breakfast service is highly regarded and weekend availability is essential. Effective communication with staff and owners is paramount.

This is an opportunity for the right applicant to put their touch on the menu as we update seasonally while adhering to a theme of utilising Australian natives throughout our offering (Experience with Australian native ingredients isn’t essential, but a passion for creating and serving delicious, interesting dishes is highly regarded).

Key responsibilities

Manage and lead the café kitchen team, including scheduling, training and development of staff

Develop and implement creative menu items, utilising fresh, seasonal produce

Ensure consistent food preparation and presentation across all menu items

Monitor food costs and inventory, and make adjustments in consultation with owners to improve profitability

Maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen environment

Foster a positive and collaborative team culture within the kitchen

Comply with all food safety and health regulations

What we're looking for

Minimum 2 years' experience as a Lead Chef in a fast-paced café or restaurant environment

Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team

Excellent culinary skills, with a passion for creating innovative, flavourful dishes

Thorough understanding of food safety regulations and kitchen operations

Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
