12-month parental leave contract, up until May 2026.

Salary from $98,253.43 to $105,920.68 p.a. plus 11.5% Superannuation.

About the role

The primary role of the Open Space Projects Officer is to lead the delivery of open space and recreation projects from the Council’s Public Spaces and Recreation Strategy and Open Space Asset Management Plan. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of delivering valuable public realm projects, including capital upgrades and asset renewals which benefit the community and stakeholders.

Working closely with the Open Space and Recreation Lead and other colleagues, both within and outside the unit, you will be responsible for the successful completion of projects on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. This position is ideal for a motivated individual with experience in public open space projects, community consultation, and contractor management.

This is a 12-month contract concluding in May 2026.

Requirements

Tertiary qualifications in landscape architecture, sport and recreation planning, landscape management or related fields (i.e.: Civil project experience) and/or significant relevant experience.

Demonstrated experience in community consultation and site assessments to develop management plans, place plans and action plans for open space and recreation projects in the public realm.

Excellent stakeholder management skills.

Demonstrated experience in co-ordinating and/or managing public open space projects and contractors. This includes grant derived, recurrent and capital works projects, and the development of reports and policies/ plans.

Knowledge and/or experience providing direction and supervision of contractors working on Open Space and Recreation projects.

Proficient computer skills including experience with CAD, Microsoft Office and ADOBE Suite.

Awareness of and commitment to the principles of Work Health and Safety (WHS) and a commitment to attend relevant training.

Current NSW Class C Driver’s Licence.

Desirable Criteria

Knowledge or Experience in Local or State Government

Experience with Technology One (HRIS and payroll system) and ECM (records management)
