Are you ready to take your legal skills beyond the office and make a real impact in the community? The Law Society of South Australia is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Regulatory Officer / Paralegal to play a vital role in supporting the legal profession and protecting the public.

In this dynamic position, you'll be at the forefront of legal regulation in South Australia – working directly with practitioners, legal firms, and the public to uphold professional standards under the Legal Practitioners Act 1981 (SA). What You'll Be Doing

You’ll work closely with our Director of Ethics and Practice to:

Administer practising certificates – including issuing, surrendering, and cancellations

Oversee professional indemnity insurance compliance

Manage regulatory matters involving interstate practitioners and incorporated legal practices

Keep critical statutory registers accurate and up to date

Communicate directly with legal professionals and the public on regulatory issues

Maintain and enhance our regulatory databases, website content, and procedures

What You’ll Bring

We're looking for someone who’s confident, curious, and committed to high standards. Ideally, you’ll have:

Experience in a regulatory, compliance, or advisory role – especially in legal or professional services

A background in law or compliance (either through work in a legal practice or relevant education)

Excellent organisation and time management skills – you’ll be juggling a few things at once

Strong computer literacy, especially across the Microsoft Office suite

Meticulous attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy

A trustworthy and professional manner – you’ll be handling sensitive and confidential matters
