We’re launching something truly groundbreaking – the headspace Early Psychosis (hEP) Service in lutruwita Tasmania, and we want YOU to be a part of it!
This innovative program is designed to provide young people (aged 12-25) with early detection and life-changing intervention for psychosis – a chance to make a difference when it matters most.
About the role
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Clinical Practice Nurse to join our dynamic team at headspace. In this role, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based primary health care to young people, ensuring their mental and physical health needs are met. You will work in close partnership with both headspace Primary and Early Psychosis staff to provide seamless, integrated care across a variety of health concerns, including mental health, AOD, and sexual health.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Primary Health Care: Deliver evidence-based primary health care to young people, maintaining a high standard of clinical practice.
Clinical Services & Support: Consolidate and provide sessional clinical services via GP Clinics at headspace, focusing on youth mental health, AOD, and sexual health.
Mental Health Support: Conduct assessments (HEADDs, mental state, risk) and offer ongoing therapeutic support and care coordination for young people with mental health concerns.
Health Monitoring: Oversee the safe and effective health monitoring of young people on clozapine, in conjunction with the headspace Early Psychosis team.
Referral & Access Management: Manage referral and access pathways for young people to GP services and other priority youth services.
Documentation & Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely documentation of client data, service activity, and reporting processes.
Collaboration: Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive, client-centered care.
Additional Tasks: Take on ad-hoc clinical tasks as directed by the headspace Services Manager.

About you
We’re seeking an experienced and compassionate Clinical Practice Nurse with a passion for supporting young people in their health and mental wellbeing journey. You bring the following skills and experience to the role:
Clinical Skills: Strong experience in assessing and providing therapeutic support, especially through single-session and brief interventions.
Health Promotion: Expertise in health education and promoting physical, sexual, mental health, and AOD awareness.
Risk Assessment: Skilled in conducting health screenings and risk assessments across multiple domains (physical, mental, AOD).
Collaboration: Proven ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams and community partners to deliver comprehensive care.
Culturally Competent: Comfortable working with diverse young populations, including CALD, LGBTIQA+, and at-risk youth.
Family Engagement: Experienced in involving families in treatment planning and support.
Qualifications
Qualifications: RN with post-graduate qualifications (highly regarded).
Registration: Current AHPRA Division 1 Nurse registration.
License: Valid state-based driver’s license.
