About the Role
- The First Nations Clinical Nurse (CN) role provides advanced clinical and problem-solving skills, expert planning, and coordination skills in the clinical management of Sexual Health patients/residents/clients with complex care needs, ensuring quality standards are met.
- This role works autonomously within the healthcare team structure and is pivotal in the planning, managing, and delivering of Sexual Health specialist nursing care with a focus on Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people (A&TSI).
- Work with other like minded health professionals including sexual health physicians, a nurse unit manager, clinical nurses, a clinical psychologist, a contact tracing support officer, and administration officers.
- The role involves providing advanced clinical care, leadership, and education with a focus on First Nations communities, managing complex sexual health cases, youth outreach, and health promotion.
- The ideal candidate will demonstrate a genuine commitment to community service, especially in Indigenous youth health, and possess a strong passion for ensuring equitable access to services for all, in alignment with the unit's values.
- Preferred working days are Tuesday to Friday, with hours from 7:30am – 4:00pm (Tuesday to Thursday) and 8:00am – 4:30pm (Friday) to align with clinic open hours.
This is an identified vacancy with a genuine occupational requirement for the position to be filled by a candidate indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community. Candidates not meeting this criteria will not be considered.
