This is an exciting opportunity for an Operations Manager to assist the Director in delivering strategic, high-impact outcomes across multiple functions within a fast-paced and complex public sector environment.
As Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective delivery of core operational and strategic support services across areas including audit and compliance, financial management, resource planning, recruitment, media relations, and quality assurance. This is a leadership role that requires a high level of initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate complex systems while maintaining a strong customer and stakeholder focus.
What you will be doing:
- Audit Management: Lead internal audit processes, maintain compliance with relevant policies, and collaborate with external auditors.
- Business Operations: Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure smooth functioning across all program areas.
- Financial Processing: Manage budgets, track expenditures, and ensure timely and accurate invoice processing.
- Resource Management: Efficiently allocate staffing, financial, and material resources to meet program goals.
- Recruitment (Public Service & Contractors): Manage end-to-end recruitment processes, including contractor engagement through tender processes.
- Onboarding: Ensure seamless onboarding of new employees and contractors with clear induction procedures.
- Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards across all deliverables including reports, communications, and documentation.
- Correspondence and Media Relations: Manage internal and external communications, prepare media releases, and coordinate media interactions.
- Documentation and Briefs: Draft high-quality reports, briefs, and correspondence to support strategic decision-making.
- General Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as required to support the delivery of objectives.
What you need to be successful:
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence and drive positive outcomes across complex operational areas.
- Strong financial acumen, including experience with budgeting and financial reporting in a government or public sector setting.
- Demonstrated experience in human and resource management.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, particularly in preparing high-level documentation and media materials.
- A strategic mindset with the ability to manage change and adapt in dynamic environments.
- A sound understanding of IT program operations and public sector governance.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and healthy workplace.
- Alignment with leadership competencies including vision, results, and accountability as outlined in the Leadership Competencies for Queensland.
