About Engagement and Advancement:
This position is within the Engagement and Advancement Department (E&A), reporting directly to the Fundraising and Philanthropy Manager. E&A is responsible for generating fundraising revenue to support QIMR Berghofer’s research programs and protecting and strengthening the Institute’s reputation for research excellence.
Role Purpose / Responsibilities:
Applications are invited for a strategic and results-driven Senior Philanthropy Associate to lead and execute high-value philanthropic campaigns at QIMR Berghofer, a world-leading medical research institute. This role will be instrumental in securing major gifts to fund vital research programs, directly impacting lives through scientific discovery.
The following duties will apply:
- Develop and execute strategic, comprehensive, and thematic fundraising campaigns, including compelling Cases for Support and funding proposals.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with high-net-worth individuals, developing targeted cultivation and solicitation strategies.
- Implement major gift fundraising strategies for specific research projects, ensuring a robust pipeline of potential donors.
- Develop and leverage stewardship and engagement activities to create exceptional donor journeys, including personal visits, lab tours, and researcher meetings.
- Proactively identify and qualify new major donor prospects through database mining, research, and collaboration with the fundraising team.
- Develop and implement methods to effectively communicate the impact of gifts, ensuring ongoing donor engagement and recognition.
- Manage a small team, ensuring goals for income raised, donor engagement, and new donor acquisition are met.
About you:
To be successful in your application, you should be able to demonstrate;
- Postgraduate qualifications in Fundraising/Marketing/Business or related field and extensive relevant experience; OR an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training in a major gifts philanthropy program.
- Proven experience in developing and executing high-value philanthropic campaigns and major gift fundraising strategies.
- Success in cultivating and managing relationships with high-net-worth individuals.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong strategic thinking and project management abilities.
- A deep understanding of donor stewardship and engagement best practices.
- Experience in managing and mentoring a small team.

Remuneration: Salary range is $132,998 to 142,709 p.a plus super and generous salary packaging. This is a full-time, continuing appointment.
