The Township:
The Town of Walkerville is a small, dynamic and innovative Council, which serves a community of more than 8,000 residents in the Eastern metropolitan region. The Council is seeking an experienced enthusiastic individual to join the team. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, with a passion for delivering a high-level service to our internal and external stakeholders across Council.
The Position:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a contract Customer Service Officer to join the Town of Walkerville.
The Customer Service Officer role provides first point of contact exemplary customer service to the residents of the Town of Walkerville. The position provides outstanding quality service to internal and external customers, as well as stakeholders.
The role is based in Council’s Customer Service Contact Centre, which incorporates concierge, call enquiries, library services, regular programs and special events, and associated administration.
Key Responsibilities
Community Engagement
Provide high quality multifunctional customer service to the Town of Walkerville's external and internal customers, in accordance with Council's Annual Business Plan, Code of Conduct, Policies and Strategies.
Customer Service – Contact Centre
Provide efficient, prompt and accurate first point of contact information and advice relating to Council programs, services, legislation and activities.
Ensure all customer enquires (in person, via telephone, correspondence or through web-based services) are recorded on the Customer Request System and allocated to the relevant department / officer.
Participate in the efficient and effective communication between internal and external customers.
Undertake cashier services (in person, via telephone, correspondence or through web-based services) in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Assist with maintenance of various register/databases and computer based records (customer request, infringements, financial database, building applications, etc.).
Ensure Council and community information publications are maintained in the foyer and Library.
Assist with developing the Civic & Community Centre as a community space by encouraging use of Council venues for community learning and use.
Assist in coordinating bookings for venues and RSVPs for Council events and maintaining community databases
Technical administrative duties as per the Local Government Act (1999) as required (i.e. Searches, Dog and Cat Management and Planning).
Ensure that documents are recorded in Council’s electronic record keeping system as required.
Assist other departments with administrative duties when necessary.
Promote a positive image of the Town of Walkerville.
Library Services
Provide backup library services (including circulation, reference queries, local history enquiries, processing payments and administration duties).
Actively assist patrons use of the Library resources and equipment (e.g. photocopier, internet, wireless, online catalogues, e-Books and public access computers).
Assist in the planning, marketing and delivery of adult, youth and children's programs, as well as special events.
Experience/Qualifications
Essential:
Police Clearance (current or willingness to undertake)
Working with Children Clearance (current or willingness to undertake)
Desirable:
Certificate in business administration, customer service, library studies, information technology or equivalent work service.
Understanding in the functions carried out by a customer service centre in a local government environment or related field.
Knowledge of Local Government and relevant legislation.
Knowledge of financial systems.
