About You
The Innovation and Impact Manager will support the Associate Director, Research, Innovation and Reform to grow and develop the work of the team and the Centre for Innovative Justice (CIJ) through business development activities, stakeholder engagement, budget, resourcing and strategic planning.

The CIJ undertakes research and makes submissions on the themes of restorative justice, family violence, women's decarceration and systemic reform. They work in partnership with the justice sector, government and justice system users, as well as independently.

The Manager , Innovation and Impact will provide intellectual leadership, advancing key strategic aims of the team such as changing systems in partnership with communities and amplifying lived experience through project, policy work and advocacy. They will also provide support across the team in relation to project design, management and delivery, as well as contribute to continuous improvement of the Centre's operations

To be successful in this position, you'll have as a minimum:

  • A commitment to social justice, human rights and the promotion of innovative strategies for delivering justice.
  • Project management experience in a policy, professional services and/or reform environment, which may include experience delivering complex projects for government and leading multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Experience delivering complex reviews and evaluations will be highly regarded.
  • Significant experience in complex research, policy analysis and policy development in relevant fields (eg self-determined justice and law reform relating to disability and/or Indigenous communities)
  • including a track record of producing high quality written publications and influencing policy outcomes.
  • Working knowledge of process of law reform, including government, legislative and political processes, stakeholder engagement, advocacy and public interest litigation.
  • An understanding of contemporary issues impacting the justice system and the network of public, private and community institutions and agencies constituting the justice system.
  • Highly developed problem-solving skills, including the capacity to identify and manage strategic risks; develop and implement alternative approaches or solutions; and to foster consensus and joint ownership.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and with a view to the needs of the audience.
  • The ability to work in a self-directed environment and to be accountable for the planning and execution of multiple streams of work, including determining the approaches to be taken; delegating effectively to ensure achievement of project or business objectives; and monitoring and reporting on progress as required.
