Position Overview
This position provides high-quality, evidence-based clinical services to a client group that includes individuals and families with complex mental health needs, including those connected to military service. The role involves assessment, formulation, treatment planning, therapeutic intervention, and case management. Clinicians are responsible for maintaining confidential client records, participating in supervision and professional development, and collaborating with colleagues, families, and external providers to support client outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver evidence-based individual, couple, and family counselling, including risk assessments, interventions, referrals, and case management.
Conduct progress reviews with clients and revise care plans as needed.
Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including session notes and care documentation, using a Client Management System.
Attend and complete required clinical supervision and ongoing professional development to maintain professional registration.
Work within legislative, ethical, and organizational policy frameworks to deliver best-practice client care.
Participate in regular case reviews with senior staff and colleagues to monitor client progress and address complex clinical issues.
With client consent, liaise with family members, external treatment providers, and relevant stakeholders to coordinate care.
Support a cooperative, safe, and values-driven work environment consistent with public service values.
As directed, contribute to additional tasks including:
Co-facilitating group therapy or psychoeducation programs.
Engaging in service promotion and community development activities.
Contributing to research and evaluation projects and assisting in implementing strategic initiatives.
Supporting the quality assurance of external clinician services.
Assisting in regional service allocation and intake assessments to inform care pathways.
Qualifications and Registration Requirements
One of the following is required:
Registered Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, or Mental Health Nurse with full AHPRA registration
Social Worker eligible for AASW membership and mental health accreditation
Counsellor with minimum Level 4 Australian Counselling Association registration
Eligibility for clinical membership with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA)
Mandatory Clearances:
Valid Working with Children (WWC) Check and/or Vulnerable People Clearance (as required by location)
