This is a Recruitment Pool for Permanent Full Time, Permanent Part Time, Fixed Term Full Time, Fixed Term Part Time and Casual appointments with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.

Position Profile: We are seeking enthusiastic and dynamic candidates to join our team as a Dental Assistant.

Successful candidates will provide dental assistance to Dental Specialists, General Dentists, Registrars and Oral Health Therapists treating paediatric and eligible patients in outpatient clinics, operating theatres, and other areas of the hospital.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide chairside and clinical assistance to Dental Specialists, General Dentists, Registrars and Oral Health Therapists treating eligible craniofacial, cleft, maxillofacial, emergency paediatric dental and trauma patients in outpatient clinics, operating theatres, or other areas of the hospital.
  • Provide oral health education and promotion to patients and their caregivers.
  • Take scans and clinical photographs and radiographs with appropriate training and qualifications.
  • Prepare and maintain the clinical environment.
  • Maintain stock level in clinic and report requirement for ordering. Sound knowledge of material use, storage and safety precautions.
  • Equipment maintenance schedule is followed, and all maintenance issues are raised in a timely manner.
  • Correct instrument selection and care undertaken for each appointment, preparation of instruments for sterilisation process.
  • Accurate use of hospital-based computer software for record keeping.
  • Follow all infection control protocols to the standard required by the hospital.

Eligibility: To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments).
