About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer, with a structural or mechanical background, to join a SMP project team in the Brisbane Queensland area. This role would be a project based role working on site with our SMP project management team at Yatala.
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret Project Plans: Understand and implement construction drawings, specifications, and project plans.
Schedule Management: Assist in updating the Primavera P6 Project Schedule, and ensure project milestones and deadlines are met.
Oversee Construction Activities: Supervise subcontractors and site workers to ensure work is executed according to the design and quality standards.
Address Issues: Assist with the management of RFI/TQ process, track progress and report to Project Manager
Resource Planning: Coordinate with the project manager to schedule materials, labor, and equipment.
Development of detailed work packs for work crews.
Cost Monitoring: Assist with variation process including pricing, submission and execution.
Stakeholder Interaction: Participate in weekly and monthly client meetings
Progress Updates: Cooperate and communicate effectively with project manager and other project participants to provide assistance and technical support
Documentation: Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions
Essential Skills and Experience:
Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol test
Knowledge of design techniques, technical plans, drawings and models
Analyse drawings and specifications
Understand contractual terms and conditions
Knowledge of the Construction industry and QBCC Regulations
Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards
Ability to complete tasks efficiently to a high quality standard
Excellent time management skills
Ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees, leading hands, supervisors, managers and the public
Ability to work from construction specifications
Ability to evaluate and implement appropriate work methods
Ability to analyse information
Ability to develop budgets/schedules
Advanced MS Office skills
Ability to work within a multidisciplinary project
Adaptability and problem-solving skills to thrive in our dynamic work environment to find best outcomes for all parties.
Ability to manage schedules and deadlines, and prioritise tasks appropriately.
Ability to multitask and complete tasks in parallel.
Excellent data entry skills.
Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing.
Excellent communication with clients, contractors and fellow employees.
Proficient in spelling, punctuation, grammar and other English language skills.
Proven high quality experience producing correspondence and documents.
Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with other employees, managers and Client Stakeholders.
Ability to evaluate and implement appropriate work methods.
Strong focus on safety and meeting safety expectations
Results driven. Demonstrated experience in achieving results and objectives.
Ability to use reason and judgment.

Punctual.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering [Mechanical, Structural] - REQUIRED
Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience in similar SMP Project Engineering role.
RPEQ preferred

Drivers License – C
