This is an Aboriginal Identified Role, the location based in Darwin with some occasional trips to Mimal and Warddeken Indigenous Protected Area.

The Business

The Bidwern Butj Uni is a partnership between Warddeken Land Management Limited (Warddeken) and the Mimal Land Management Aboriginal Corporation (Mimal). The initiative focuses on delivering benefits to Country and culture for the landowners and people of West and Central Arnhem Land. The program supports ranger groups through tailored training, knowledge transfer, and capacity-building efforts to strengthen skills, competencies, and career pathways.

This position is designated as an Aboriginal Identified Role, open only to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicants.

This designation is in recognition of the importance of cultural knowledge and lived experience in successfully supporting the objectives of this program.

As the Administration Officer for the Training and Development Project in the Bidwern Butj Uni team, you'll play a key role in supporting a unique First Nations ranger training program. Based in Darwin, you'll keep the wheels turning, handling everything from documentation and logistics to reporting and stakeholder coordination.

You'll work closely with a passionate team and build strong relationships with rangers, traditional landowners, government agencies, and training providers. With occasional travel to some of the most stunning and culturally rich parts of Arnhem Land, this is more than just a desk job—it’s a chance to make a real difference.

About You

You're someone who thrives on keeping things organised and running smoothly behind the scenes. You enjoy variety in your day, from managing calendars to coordinating logistics, and you’re confident communicating with a wide range of people. You take pride in your attention to detail and love being part of a team working towards a bigger purpose.

In this role, you'll:

Provide admin support for training sessions, learning camps, and ranger exchanges

Organise logistics like travel, accommodation, catering, and calendars

Keep accurate records of training activities, including attendance and outcomes

Help prepare reports for funders and stakeholders on training progress

Collect data to support monitoring and evaluation efforts

Work closely with rangers, trainers, and program staff to keep communication flowing

Qualifications:

Certificate III in Business Administration would be advantageous

Experience in an office administration role

Selection Criteria

Essential

Identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently

Proficiency in MS office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook)

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with diverse stakeholders

Demonstrated cultural competence in working with Aboriginal communities

Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare detailed reports

Current manual driver’s license with experience in off-road 4WD driving

Ochre Card and National Police Check

Desirable

Experience in administrative roles supporting training or development projects

Understanding of the Vocational Education Training sector

Familiarity with Aboriginal Land Rights Act (NT) 1976 or other relevant legislation

Experience living or working in remote Aboriginal communities
