TRG is partnering with a fast-growing Melbourne tech scale-up who are looking for a talented PHP Developer to join its Web Services team. In this role, you'll help build the backbone of a high-traffic platform that powers user-generated content (UGC).

This is more than a backend role-you'll help shape the infrastructure behind a global platform. We're looking for a passionate engineer who enjoys clean code, scalable systems, and working on products that are truly impactful.

What You'll Be Doing

• Work alongside other engineers and stakeholders to design and build backend features that meet stakeholder requirements.
• Help define backend architecture and contribute to long-term technical planning.
• Translate complex requirements into functional, scalable services used by thousands of concurrent users worldwide.
• Design and implement reliable API endpoints that allow games to stay in sync and update in real time.
• Ensure code is performant, secure, and ready to be reused or even open-sourced by the wider dev community.
• Collaborate with frontend, API, and integration teams to ensure backend services support their workflows efficiently.

What You'll Bring

• Hands-on PHP development using frameworks like Laravel, Symfony, or Lumen.
• Experience working with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL key-stores (e.g. Redis).
• Strong understanding of data modelling for high-traffic environments and scalable data architectures.
• Familiarity with AWS services, such as S3, Lambda, SNS, SES, SQS, EC2, and RDS.
• Experience taking features from concept to completion independently
• Strong attention to detail and an eagerness to experiment, refine, and iterate.

Bonus Points For

• Exposure to frontend development or frameworks like Vue.js.
• Experience working with Swagger/OpenAPI for API documentation.
• Background in agile development methodologies and tools.
