About This Opportunity

The Business Analyst will undertake activities to identify, define and convert business requirements into recommendations and system designs, giving consideration to ensuring wide applicability across the University. This position requires someone who is capable of working autonomously at a senior level, who is confident taking on a project with a broad and undefined scope and who can take the lead on determining requirements and engaging with senior stakeholders. The Business Analyst will work closely with University stakeholders, solution analysts and architects, technology suppliers, project managers, developers, and various technology teams to ensure effective delivery and support of applications.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Business Analysis & Solution Design: Analyse business processes and requirements to identify opportunities for improvement, and translate them into detailed system specifications, process flows, and solution designs.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Act as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders by facilitating workshops, gathering requirements, and ensuring alignment through effective communication and documentation.
  • Project Delivery & Testing: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support solution design, deployment planning, system testing, and compliance to ensure quality and timely delivery of IT solutions.
  • Continuous Improvement & Support: Drive process improvements, support change management initiatives, and ensure efficient service delivery by resolving issues and enhancing business productivity.

About You
  • Postgraduate qualifications (or progress toward) in IT or related fields, with extensive relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and training.
  • Proven ability to facilitate stakeholder workshops and user interviews to gather and analyse requirements effectively.
  • Demonstrated strength in analysing complex problems, conceptualising solutions, and implementing innovative initiatives within structured frameworks.
  • Experience in mapping, analysing, and modelling current and future state business processes to assess impacts and improve efficiency.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and negotiation skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders across all levels, including non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, work autonomously, and meet project deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum environments, workflow automation platforms, and business process digitisation; experience in the Higher Education sector is highly regarded.
  • Proven ability to produce business documentation (e.g., business cases, solution proposals), conduct technology research, and design transformation solutions using industry standards (e.g., BPMN, wireframes, user stories).
