About the role
IMPACT Community Services has been granted funding for an exciting new program. HERE – Hope Empower Resilient Enable is a new program funded by Queensland Health, designed to provide early intervention and non-clinical psychosocial mental health supports. HERE program is designed to empower young people up to 18 years of age who are at risk of disconnecting due to a mental health condition. The program supports the geographical area of the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Services catchment, and team members will be located at our Bundaberg office, Hervey Bay and Agnes Water sites.
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Youth Worker to join the Fraser Coast team. This is a full-time fixed term position until 30 June 2026. Travel within the Hervey Bay area will be required in which a company vehicle is available.
What you'll be doing
- Provide one-on-one support, mentoring and coaching to young people
- Facilitate group programs and activities to engage and empower youth
- Collaborate with other community organisations and stakeholders to deliver holistic support
- Maintain detailed case notes and records in accordance with organisational and departmental policies and procedures
- Advocate for the needs of young people and their families within the community
- Contribute to the development and implementation of youth-focused initiatives
What we're looking for
- Demonstrated experience working with youth aged up to 18, particularly those facing challenges
- Certificate IV in Youth Work, Mental Health or equivalent is desirable
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients
- Ability to work collaboratively with a geographically dispersed team, and with external partners i.e. General Practitioners, schools etc
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting the wellbeing of young people
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and community resources
- Current driver's licence
