This is a hands-on leadership role best suited to someone with strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to take full ownership of outcomes. You’ll be responsible for maintaining smooth day-to-day operations, supporting staff accountability, managing cleanliness and organisation, and contributing to ongoing improvements across the business.

Experience in martial arts or the fitness industry is not required—we’re looking for someone with the right skills and mindset, not necessarily the same background. That said, if you do have martial arts experience or a passion for the industry, it's always a bonus.

Your Responsibilities

As our Gym Manager, you’ll play a key role in the success of our gym by:

Managing daily operations: Ensure smooth scheduling of classes, instructors, and events.

Communication: Act as the main point of contact for members, parents, and instructors.

Sales and Marketing: Manage our lead follow-up process and social media marketing strategy.

Member satisfaction: Provide exceptional customer service to retain and grow membership.

Facility upkeep: Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

Administration: Handle memberships, budgets, and other business functions efficiently.

What We Offer

Competitive salary: $70,000 - $80,000 per year for full-time + quarterly performance bonus of up to $1,500
Bonus is based on performance in five key areas: facility upkeep, staff leadership, lead management, member experience, and admin follow-through.

Position Summary

The Gym Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Element Martial Arts, ensuring a seamless experience for members, instructors, and staff. This role involves managing schedules, maintaining inventory, ensuring member satisfaction, and fostering a positive gym culture. The Manager plays a key role in the growth and success of the facility, which offers Jiu-Jitsu, MMA, and Kickboxing classes for all ages.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Management

Coordinate and manage class schedules, ensuring optimal use of facilities and instructor availability.

Supervise day-to-day operations to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Customer Engagement

Work with our admin and sales team to act as the main point of contact for members and visitors, addressing inquiries and resolving issues.

Foster strong relationships with members to enhance retention and satisfaction.

Promote a positive culture across the gym community.

Sales and Marketing Management

Manage and improve our sales process, including handling phone inquiries and conversions.

Work with coaches and staff to enhance member sign-ups and retention.

Work with our Social Media Manager to manage the posting schedule, marketing campaigns and content creation.

Administration

Oversee our admin team to manage membership administration, including new sign-ups, renewals, and cancellations.

Manage budgets, invoicing, and expense tracking.

Prepare operational reports for management as needed.

Monitor and maintain gym supplies, equipment, and merchandise stock levels.

Place timely orders for equipment and supplies to ensure uninterrupted operations.

Leadership

Supervise and support instructors and staff, fostering a team-oriented environment.

Train new staff members on operational procedures and customer service standards.

Organise and oversee special events, promotions, or competitions run by Element.

Coaching (Desirable but not mandatory)

The ability to lead group-based classes is a plus but not mandatory

Key Selection Criteria

Essential Qualifications and Experience

Proven experience in gym or facility management, or a related field.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated ability to organise schedules and manage multiple priorities.

Proficiency in sales calls and lead follow-up processes.

Leadership skills to inspire and manage a team effectively.

Desirable Qualifications

Knowledge or experience in martial arts (especially Jiu-Jitsu, MMA, or Kickboxing).

Familiarity with gym management software or customer relationship management systems.

Ability to run group training and fitness classes.
