Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Service that provides culturally appropriate, family centred, primary health care services to the communities and people of Cape York.

About the Opportunity

The purpose of the Marketing and Communications Officer position is to provide professional marketing and communication support and services to develop and implement strategic marketing and communication projects in support of the delivery of comprehensive primary health care services consistent with the Apunipima Way and Model of Care, to maximise health outcomes for the people of Cape York and to. This position is full time and fixed term ending 5th August 2025.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

Demonstrated experience delivering marketing and communication advice and services, ideally within a remote-based multi-site workforce

Previous experience in the development and implementation of content, proofing, editing, layout and effectiveness of publications and promotional material preferably in a health or non-government organisation

Experience managing marketing and communications projects

Demonstrated high-level copywriting/editing experience

Experience in desktop publishing, using the Adobe Creative Suite of products, and Microsoft Office

Experience using website content management systems

Intermediate level skills using Microsoft 365, including Word and Excel

Understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York

Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customs

Demonstrated understanding of the principles of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community control

Proven ability to effectively and efficiently manage a variety of projects/priorities within specified timeframes while achieving quality outcomes

Possess exceptional written and verbal communications skills

Exceptional cross-communication skills with proven ability to translate ideas/concepts/key messages into meaningful information, in a format which is engaging and appropriate for the audience, using a variety of delivery methods to meet the needs of wide-ranging audiences including Cape York communities and government stakeholders

Must be willing and have the ability to travel in Cape York either by light aircraft or 4WD as required

Desirable Requirements:

Proven experience in website development and maintenance including SEO and google analytics including experience with digital media

Demonstrated experience in coordinating successful events

Content development/management of SharePoint sites

Project management skills or qualification

Camera skills for use in photography and/or videography

Mandatory requirements:

Tertiary qualification in marketing and/or communications, or equivalent experience.

Current Queensland Drivers Licence

Current Blue Card positive notice or exemption, or willing and able to obtain prior to commencement

Current AFP National Police Clearance or willing to obtain

Competitive salary range - $96,469 – $106,835 p.a. + 11.5% superannuation contribution
