About us

DUXTON RISDON JOINT VENTURE trading as the Pastoral Hotel, was built in 1882, and plays an important part in Port Augusta and South Australian history. The Pastoral is a family friendly venue offering great food, a selection of craft beer on tap in our sports bar, and old fashion country hospitality. We are open seven days a week and serve lunch and dinner.

We are seeking a skilled cook to join our dynamic kitchen team.

Your responsibilities will include:

Cooking entrees, mains, and desserts per recipe/menu requirements;

Responsible for preparing stocks and sauces, portioning fish and meats;

Effective use of equipment such as chargrill, fryers, combi oven, brat pan, sous vide and planetary mixer;

Cooking with correct food handling techniques and temperature/storage controls are in place;

Collaborate with the team to deliver quality meals;

Assist with training kitchen staff according to Hotel standards, OH&S Procedures;

Produce quality and consistent meals;

Ensure food quality is met by close monitoring of stock wastage; and

General cleanliness and making sure that strict hygiene levels are maintained for guests well being.

To be the successful in joining our team you will have:

Certificate 4 obtained or at least three years of relevant experience in lieu of formal qualifications;

Must have at least 2 years work experience as a cook in a busy kitchen (or similar relevant role);

Must be competent and versatile across all kitchen operations;

Ability to remain calm under pressure and work effectively within a team; and

Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people (customers, employees, Managers).

Remuneration:

Annual salary of $73,000 to $78,000 plus superannuation
