We are looking for a dedicated Part-Time Practice Nurse to provide high-quality patient care and help support the ongoing growth of our clinic.
Whether you're an experienced practice nurse, a hospital RN considering a change of pace, or even someone easing into semi-retirement, we'd love to hear from you. You'll be working in a supportive team environment alongside two General Practitioners and one other nurse, job-sharing to ensure consistent care and coverage.
This is a permanent part-time position (approximately 20 hours per week), with regular weekday shifts and occasional Saturday mornings. There is also future potential to support the opening of a nearby satellite clinic, offering a unique chance to be part of a growing regional health service.
About the Role:
In this role, you will work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team to deliver a wide range of nursing services, with a focus on patient-centred care and continuity. You will support both preventative and ongoing health management in a general practice setting.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Clinical nursing duties including patient triage, immunisations, wound care, chronic disease management, ECGs, and pathology collection
- Assisting GPs with minor clinical procedures and ensuring accurate clinical documentation
- Coordinating patient care activities including GP Management Plans, Team Care Arrangements, and health assessments
- Conducting patient education and preventative screening activities
- Communicating test results as directed by the medical team and supporting follow-up care
- Monitoring, sterilising, and maintaining clinical equipment and instruments
- Managing infection control protocols, including sterilisation, cleaning, and waste disposal
- Managing clinical supplies, including ordering, stock rotation, and safe storage
- Supporting accreditation, compliance and quality improvement processes within the practice
- Participating in community health promotion and patient outreach initiatives as needed
About You:
We're looking for someone who is compassionate, competent, and adaptable. You'll bring a patient-focused approach to your work and a positive presence to our team.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA)
- Previous experience in a general practice setting preferred (not essential)
- Sound knowledge of chronic disease management and preventative care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all age groups and demographics
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Current driver's licence and professional indemnity insurance
- A genuine interest in rural and regional healthcare
This role would suit an experienced practice nurse, or a hospital nurse transitioning to general practice. We're open to applicants from a range of backgrounds, including those looking to reduce hours or ease into semi-retirement.
Why Join Us?
- A welcoming, mature, and professional team
- Approx. 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday mornings
- Opportunity to grow with the clinic as we expand to a second nearby site
- A peaceful rural setting within easy reach of Ballarat
- Supportive workplace culture with an emphasis on work-life balance
You'll be joining a practice that values quality care, personal connection, and community health outcomes. We serve a wide catchment area-up to 70km-supporting both young families and older farming communities.
