About the role
Are you ready to lead the way in public health? Yarra Ranges Council has a rare opportunity for a Public and Environmental Health Coordinator to lead environmental and public health initiatives that protect and promote the wellbeing of the people who live in and visit our municipality.
This role is all about making a meaningful impact – you'll lead a skilled team of Environmental Health Officers that deliver public and environmental health services, ensures compliance with statutory obligations, and supports our community through education, innovation, and prevention.
Key Responsibilities:
Leading and motivating a team of 7 Environmental Health Officers.
Managing day-to-day service provision, including planning and provision of business plans and program budgets.
Building and maintaining partnerships with key stakeholders including community groups, State Government agencies, and internal departments to develop and implement policies and programs.
Implement systems and processes that support consistent, efficient, and high-quality service delivery.
Identify and drive service improvements and innovation across team practices and public health programs.
This is a Band 7 role with a salary range between $107,314 and $115,776 per annum, plus superannuation.

Experience and skills we’re looking for
Relevant qualifications in environmental health, environmental science, public health, or a related field.
High level of technical knowledge for Public Health service provision.
Extensive experience in public or environmental health, with a strong understanding and application of relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks.
Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and delivering effective, people-focused services.
Proven skills in investigating complaints and identifying potential health risks, including nuisance complaints (e.g. noise, pollution, food safety).
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to engage with community members and stakeholders on sensitive matters.
Experience in managing budgets, business plans or service delivery strategies.
