About the role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Scientist to join our dynamic Anatomical Pathology team. In this role, you will demonstrate advanced professional competence and a deepening of specialised knowledge to deliver high-quality diagnostic services. Your role will involve applying your scientific expertise to perform, analyse, and troubleshoot standard diagnostic procedures, while using sound professional judgement to evaluate and implement new and existing techniques. You’ll be called upon to provide professional services in complex clinical environments, while ensuring the highest standards of quality control under supervisory guidance.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to play a key role in the provision of an efficient and effective Surgical Pathology service. You will offer highly specialised support in the specimen cut-up area, working with defined protocols to examine, interpret, describe, and dissect a wide range of surgical and biopsy specimens—from simple to complex. As a specialist in this field, you will also supervise and mentor technical and scientific staff, helping to coordinate daily workflows and foster a culture of continual professional development and operational excellence.
About You
You are a motivated and experienced Medical Scientist with a strong background in Anatomical Pathology and a passion for delivering high-quality diagnostic services. You bring a collaborative approach to your work, along with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
Qualified Professional – You hold a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent, with extensive knowledge in histopathology and laboratory practices.
Technical Expertise – You have demonstrated experience in specimen dissection, specialised staining techniques, and quality control procedures, including compliance with ISO and NATA standards.
Strong Communicator & Team Player – You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and work effectively with pathologists, peers, and multidisciplinary teams.
Adaptable & Detail-Oriented – You excel under pressure, managing multiple priorities, using initiative to troubleshoot, and maintaining high attention to detail in all tasks.
