About the role

We are seeking a part-time Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our dedicated Anatomical Pathology team in Clayton, Victoria. This is a 12-month fixed-term position to cover maternity leave.

Your role will be to participate in the day-to-day operation of the laboratory, working as part of a dedicated team. Duties include general Histology work, maintenance of instrumentation and equipment and compliance with accreditation and quality assurance requirements. The preferred applicants will be flexible, punctual, self-motivated, display initiative and be able to work with minimal supervision.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Degree in Laboratory Science or an AIMS accredited equivalent as a minimum.

Relevant experience and qualification in Histology and Cytology.

Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a Histology Laboratory.

Histology embedding and sectioning skills.

Histology dissection skills preferred but not essential.

High attention to detail and experience working in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to multitask and successfully work as part of a team.

Exceptional communication, time management & organisational skills.

The ability to contribute towards the delivery of customer focused services.

Have own transport and be able to take part in weekend and evening rosters including public holidays.
