DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/ KEY FUNCTIONS
The role of the Team Leader will be to provide not only assessment and therapy to clients (you will hold a small caseload) but to also supervise junior therapists as well as allied health assistants.
•To provide quality care to clients in collaboration with other therapists
•Provide 1:1 supervision sessions to allied health assistants as required
•Oversee and manage AHA’s session plans, approach to sessions and clients, progress notes and written reports
•Provide 1:1 supervision of other junior occupational therapists at DSKC as required
•Provide professional development to staff
•Provide 1:1 supervision sessions of junior OT’s. This may also involve checking over reports etc.
•Performance manage your junior therapists assigned to you
•Performance management and yearly review of all junior therapists assigned to you
•You are a key factor in your junior therapists achieving their KPI’s.
•Provides assessment and treatment to clients
•Keeps up to date progress notes (within 24 – 48 hrs of completion of session)
•Produces reports for clients upon request for reasons such as NDIS review, NDIS approval of funding, government funding, assessment reporting and more.
•Use person centred and respectful communication skills to assist in meeting the needs of clients.
•Maintains confidentiality, privacy and dignity of clients and demonstrates empathy and sensitivity towards clients and relatives.
•Implements systems and processes to adhere to quality care of clients and safety standards as prescribed by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards commission.
SELECTION CRITERIA
•Has an understanding of common diagnosis including ASD, ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder, Intellectual Disability, and General Developmental Delay.
•Demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision, organise and prioritise tasks, work effectively under pressure, problem solve and meet deadlines.
•Demonstrated commitment to implementing organisational policies and programs with a high level of accountability.
•An understanding the expectations and limitations of the senior occupational therapist role.
•Able to effectively communicate (both written and verbal) in various environments with a wide range of people.
•High standards of ethical and professional behaviour.
•Knowledge or experience in a similar environment and a genuine passion for working with children with special needs
•Ability to work autonomously once instructed and demonstrated ability to operate within set standards and protocols.
REQUIREMENTS
•Bachelors or Masters degree in Occupational Therapy
•Current driver’s license - essential.
•Undergo a police check and supply a Working with Children Check for an Employee
•Complete the NDIS Worker Orientation online training prior to commencement
