Are you an experienced Senior Engineer with a passion for development assessment and infrastructure planning? We’re seeking a motivated and technically skilled Senior Development Engineer to join a high-performing local government team in Caboolture on a 6-month contract.

The Role In this role, you’ll provide expert engineering advice on development applications relating to transport, stormwater infrastructure, and flood/storm tide hazards. You will lead the assessment of moderately complex applications, guide junior engineers, and negotiate infrastructure agreements in line with policy and legislative frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialist advice on development matters across civil infrastructure, flood hazard, and stormwater impacts.
• Lead and make decisions on moderately complex development applications as Council’s delegate.
• Undertake site inspections and engineering investigations to support assessments.
• Offer expert input into cost recovery and infrastructure agreements.
• Provide technical leadership to junior engineers and contribute to a high-performance team culture.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to drive positive outcomes.

About You

• Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in engineering assessment and compliance within the development space.
• Strong knowledge of the State Planning Policy, SEQ Regional Plan, Planning Scheme, and Infrastructure Charges Resolution.
• Confident in interpreting and applying planning and development legislation.
• Skilled in stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and team collaboration.
