About the Role:
We are seeking a Business Improvement Specialist to join Rio Tinto’s Rail Operational Excellence team, based at our cutting-edge Perth Operations Centre. This is a dynamic, hands-on role where you’ll lead and deliver critical end-to-end projects and studies that support performance and innovation across our Rail Operations teams.
As a key player in a collaborative, high-performing environment, you’ll report directly to the Superintendent Operational Projects. Your ability to connect with stakeholders, drive actionable insights, and manage project portfolios with precision will be crucial to success.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a diverse portfolio of projects from study phase to implementation and handover
Develop business cases and scope project initiatives based on performance and value delivery
Actively engage stakeholders with a user-centric approach
Coordinate cross-functional teams and run workshops, reviews, and milestone tracking
Monitor and report on project KPIs and manage vendor relationships
Ensure seamless operational implementation that delivers value to frontline teams
Build strong relationships across Rail Operations, Engineering, Safeworking, IS&T, and Safety
Prepare written reports and deliver project presentations to senior leadership
Provide ad-hoc support across Rail Operations Excellence as required
Skills and Experience Required:
Prior rail experience is beneficial, but not essential
