About Mawarnkarra Health Service (MHS)
Mawarnkarra (MHS) is the largest primary health care provider providing direct services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living in the Roebourne area. MHS provides the families of Roebourne with a fully functional and accredited Clinic that treats approximately 3,000 people per year.

The Position
The Immunisation Nurse role is a part of the Clinic Team of Mawarnkarra Health Service.
The role of Immunisation Nurse is to assist with increasing immunisation uptake as per the Australian Immunisation Schedule for Mawarnkarra patients. The main target population focus for this role is age 16yrs and above, however support to the Child and Maternal Health team may be required for child immunisations. The role will also participate in community education and health promotion to promote uptake and address immunisation concerns within the community.

The Requirements
- Identify patients at risk of COVID-19 and other associated respiratory illnesses to offer immunisation
- Recall patients who are overdue for vaccinations
- Review recall protocols for immunisations with a view to make more efficient / effective
- Utilise Mawarnkarra patient management system to correctly record immunisations so they flow onto the AIR register and AIR claims are processed
- Collaborate closely with GP's on care of patients
- Participate in care planning
- Maintain the highest standards of professional conduct
- Participate in and contribute to the fulfilment of operational needs of the organisation as they arise
- Demonstrate an understanding of and compliance with all Mawarnkarra policies and procedures
- Participate in maintaining a safe working environment
- Demonstrate leadership in maintaining infection control principles at all times
- A demonstrated understanding of the issues and barriers that impact upon the health outcomes of Aboriginal people
Other Requirements
- Registered Nurse with AHPRA
- Relevant qualifications to be able to administer all immunisations
- Experience in cold chain management
- Current Western Australian drivers license
- COVID-19 vaccinated
- Consent to undergo a WA Working With Children Check and a National Police Clearance
- Current CPR certificate
- Able to pass regular and random drug and alcohol testing
Remuneration Benefits include:
- Salary of $100,620 - $123,085 p/a pro rata
- 11.5% Superannuation
- Housing and District allowances (subject to eligibility)
