A rapidly growing digital ventures subsidiary of one of Australia's largest and most respected financial institutions is looking to hire two Security Engineers (one mid-level and one senior) to join their high-performance security team. These are brand-new roles designed to support a portfolio of ventures operating with startup agility - backed by enterprise-grade infrastructure.

This subsidiary functions like a tech startup but with the security standards and resources of a tier-one bank. You'll be joining a team that owns and operates its own standalone tech stack, independent from the broader enterprise, giving you full end-to-end exposure and the ability to influence outcomes directly.

What You'll Be Doing

* Provide hands-on security support across a portfolio of ventures (six active, two launching soon)

* Engage in everything from security operations, penetration testing, threat modelling, secure authentication design, and third-party risk assessments

* Implement and optimise security tooling for secure code analysis and critical operations mapping

* Support new features, third-party integrations, and customer onboarding flows with robust security guidance

* Work closely with cross-functional teams in a startup-style environment, owning security outcomes from design to delivery

* Leverage and apply security standards like NIST, Essential Eight, and OWASP

Who You Are

* A well-rounded security engineer with experience across both offensive and defensive security

* Able to work independently and strategically

* Confident working across multiple domains, including AppSec, SecOps, Cloud Security, and DevSecOps

* Familiar with tools like Auth0, CI/CD pipelines, and security automation platforms

* Experience in financial services or other high-security sectors is beneficial

* Familiarity with secure coding, authentication protocols, and risk assessment methodologies is beneficial

* Exposure to purple team exercises, vulnerability management, or building security frameworks from scratch is beneficial
