We have an exciting opportunity for a responsible, caring, passionate Chef to join our team at our Bright Beginnings Learning Centre Old Guildford!

We are seeking an enthusiastic Chef to operate all aspects of the kitchen from menu planning, fresh produce gardens, and meal preparation, to nutrition education for children aged 6 months – 5 years old.

The position is a permanent part-time role, working Monday - Friday, excluding public holidays between the hours of 9:30 am - 3:30 pm.

Position requirements:

Food safety supervisor certificate (or willingness to obtain)

Certificate III in commercial cookery

Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)

In addition, Applicants must be happy, flexible, independent, caring, and enthusiastic, and have the ability to establish and maintain fresh produce gardens and create culturally diverse menus that cater to differing dietary needs daily including but not limited to food allergies, intolerances, and infant purees.

Your Responsibilities:

Effective time management skills that ensure you are preparing and serving morning tea, lunch, dessert, afternoon tea, and late snack for 61 children.

Set and follow a rotating menu that meets the needs of the children, is culturally diverse, and meets nutritional guidelines.

Following service food safety program.

Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen.

Professional communication with co-workers, including communicating menu changes.

Stock ordering

Nutrition education program with children aged 3-5 years, which includes maintenance of fresh produce gardens.
