POSITION PURPOSE

The primary objective of the plant operator is to provide comprehensive technical support, including the non- routine operation of the plant and the maintenance of plant equipment.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Accountabilities

Conduct and supervise plant operation, including liaison with the Lead Engineer and Metallurgy team to achieve agreed targets;

Install, maintain and operate plant equipment and circuits and carry out experiments in order to meet project requirements;

Develop standard operating procedures, considering relevant Australian standards and continually review practices for improvement;

Contribute to plant process and facility design and modifications, including the interpretation and preparation of technical sketches.

Supervise contractors working the plant;

In allwork,ensure that procedures are followed and that data obtained is reproducible, accurate, appropriately recorded;

Maintain good housekeeping standards in the plant;

Work collaboratively, sharing ideas and expertise with other staff to ensure plant is effectively functioning;

Fulfilling OHSE responsibilities;

Undertake additional duties as required.

Decision Making

The position has limited discretion in decision making without referring to a supervisor and generally involves application of established procedures and guidelines. Where pre-determined procedures are not effective, the position involves troubleshooting to generate improvements to procedures and approaches in consultation with the lead engineer and/or metallurgists.

Troubleshooting complex systems.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLSAND EXPERIENCE

Experience in the operation, maintenance and modification of chemical or metallurgical plant or pilot plant equipment highly regarded

A bachelors degree, diploma or certificate in Science, Engineering or a related area

Ability to work safely with chemicals

Ability to conduct routine and non-routine experiments under minimal supervision

Ability to plan, collect and present data based on required outcomes

Basic computers skills in Word and Excel

Current driving license and own transport

Must have relevant Australian work permits.

Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures and regulations

Demonstrate personal qualities that will add value to the work group.
