What you will be doing in this role

Are you a dedicated and experienced Nurse Leader ready to take on an exciting challenge? We are seeking a dynamic Nurse Unit Manager to lead our Harrison Ward, a 30-bed Medical/Surgical unit specialising in general medicine, complex wound care management, endocrinology and chronic pain management. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing high-quality, person-centred care, ensuring our patients receive the best treatment possible in a supportive and collaborative environment.

As the Nurse Unit Manager, you will have the opportunity to mentor and guide a dedicated team of highly skilled nurses while working closely with a multidisciplinary team. Your leadership will be critical in fostering an environment that promotes excellence in clinical practice, professional development, and innovative patient care. If you are passionate about making a meaningful impact in healthcare and are ready to lead a vibrant ward where teamwork and compassionate care are paramount, we would love to hear from you.

Who we’re looking for

  • You’ll have previous experience as a Nurse Unit Manager—preferred but not essential. Team Leaders with acting NUM experience are encouraged to apply.
  • You’ll hold a Postgraduate qualification in Leadership or Management or be working towards it.
  • You’ll demonstrate a high level of clinical knowledge with a minimum of two years of post-graduate experience, ideally within a Medical/Surgical field, though other backgrounds will be considered.
  • You’ll be committed to process improvement and quality care, with a strong understanding of the National Standards.
  • You’ll have excellent interpersonal skills, an authentic and respectful communication style, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and senior executives.
  • You’ll hold current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with full Australian working rights.
