Flourish Australia is seeking a proactive Parenting Support Worker to join our unique Women and Children's Program at Blacktown!

The position available is:

Full-time (76 hours per fortnight)

Based in Blacktown

Working Monday to Friday

Attractive salary starting at $85,000 per annum + Super + Tax-Free Salary Packaging!

About the Opportunity

Flourish Australia's Women and Children's Program provides supported accommodation and outreach support to mothers parenting with a mental health issue that are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

As the Parenting Support Worker, you will support mothers that are parenting with a lived experience of mental health issues. The core focus of the role is to enhance and strengthen the parent/child relationship.

On a day-to-day basis you will:

Provide comprehensive support to the mother including needs assessments, referrals and linkages.

Assess the health, welfare and well-being of the child/ren and parents and address any concerns should they arise.

Be the main point of contact for families that are engaged with child protection services and advocate on behalf of the child and mother

Develop an individual plan that supports the mother to increase her parenting ability, achieve her goals and develop skills fostering independent living

In collaboration with the mother, assess the development needs of each child and develop, implement and monitor a plan to optimise the child’s development.

Encourage shared learning experiences, and support skill development through self-help, formal education, and through daily program delivery and shared group experiences.

Ensure that individual support is provided to the mother that meets her recovery journey goals and is strengths based and led by her wherever possible.

Selection Criteria

A relevant degree in Behavioural Sciences as recognised by Flourish Australia with a minimum 2 years of relevant experience.

A strong commitment and advanced understanding of recovery-based practice in the workplace.

Knowledge of the local area and its health services and other community services.

Experience facilitating parenting programs.

A current First Aid Certificate.
