About the Business

The Barber Academy is a Hairdresser and Barber Salon that offers an extensive range of industry services for the wider Gold Coast and beyond. The business has a fully serviced Salon where we pride ourselves on making sure every customer who walks through the door, enjoy every moment of their experience. Our team is made up of stylists at all levels from student to senior stylists. We also offer vocational education program We train students to not only qualify to become skilled in the hairdressing and barbering profession but provides an exciting platform to showcase their artistic side to an array of people who will hopefully mentor them in their continued career in the hair and barbering industry. We are a Queensland Government subsidised training provider (Skills Assured).

Key Responsibilities

Consulting with clients and staff in the provision of high-level hair care, barbering and hair styling.

Assessing and ensuring customer service is maintained across the board between all staff of the business, from students to senior stylists, to ensure the customer experience is paramount and always maintained.

Greeting clients and the provision of a broad range of services, including, but not limited to, shampooing and conditioning hair, colouring, cutting (with a range of specialist tools and hair requirements), application and considerations relating to chemical solutions for straightening and curling, scalp treatments and more.

Barbering, shaving and trimming beards and moustaches.

Maintaining all health and safety matters, including cleanliness of work areas and ensuring that this is adhered to across the salon. Assessing whether improvements to keep on top of same can be implemented, and sanitation of equipment.

Consulting with team members, including education managers and other support staff, to ensure efficient and effective delivery of quality services;

Consulting with clients regarding appointments, pricing, budgets and payments for same in line with service offering and rank/ experience of stylists.

Identifying salon/ client needs and ensuring expectation are met; and

The ability to guide and train student stylists may be required from time to time. Qualifications & Experience

AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV. We will also consider candidates who have relevant experience in the role instead of formal qualifications; however, this must be at least 3-5 years of good quality experience.

Experience in training others is desirable but not a necessity, although Certificate IV in TAE an advantage

At least two years of experience in the role within the industry; and

Specialism in Barbering is desirable.
