The Opportunity

This is a six-month labour hire contract with strong potential for extension.

As an experienced finance officer or accountant, you’ll be contributing to a high-profile project within the department - an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a project environment and further develop your project accountant skills.

A hybrid working arrangement may be considered for the right candidate.

The Role

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting with the month-end accruals process, including providing analysis and variance commentary for projects
• Processing invoices and reporting across both Administered and Departmental
• Responding to financial queries, briefing requests, and conducting compliance checks
• Coordinating briefings, correspondence, and submissions relating to corporate coordination activities, including the Senate Estimates process

The Ideal Person

You will have a strong background in accounting or finance in the Federal government, with sound knowledge of the Commonwealth financial framework, including accrual accounting and the PGPA Act. Experience with systems such as SAP and TM1 would be an advantage, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

You’ll ideally hold a CA or CPA qualification or be working towards one, and have advanced Excel skills to support reporting and analysis. Strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate financial information clearly will help you succeed in this role.

Successful candidates should be Australian Citizens and with existing baseline security clearance.

Salary / Rate

• $60/hr - $75/hr + 11.5% Super
