The Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Light Vehicle Mechanic to join our team in Victoria. This role involves servicing and repairing our fleet of cars, light trucks, and trailers, ensuring they meet operational standards and safety regulations. The mechanic will play a key role in reducing downtime by performing in-house maintenance, minimising the need for external servicing.

Your tasks and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Conduct comprehensive vehicle servicing and repairs for cars, light trucks, and trailers.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections to uphold RPM's vehicle standards.
• Respond to breakdowns and emergency repair situations promptly.
• Manage parts and inventory required for vehicle maintenance and repairs.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of all services and repairs.
• Minor panel repair/ replacement
• Electrical fit outs on new fleet vehicles (beacons, reverse beeper etc)
• Implement efficiency improvements to reduce reliance on external mechanics.
• Assist with the development and implementation of vehicle maintenance schedules.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during all maintenance activities.
• Provide support for vehicle-related projects and initiatives as directed by the National Fleet and Maintenance Manager.
• Occasionally travel to other states to support fleet operations as required.

We welcome applications from 4th-year mechanics still studying, entry-level mechanics and fully qualified/experienced mechanics.

What You Will Bring:

• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in vehicle servicing and repairs.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues efficiently.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills for reporting and documentation.
• History of safe working practices.
• Valid car licence (truck licence is advantageous).
• Ability to problem solve with a positive 'can-do' attitude
