About the Team
The Research Office is a central unit within the portfolio of the DVCR and provides support for research activities across UTS in partnership with the faculty research offices and other support units, including identifying and accessing research funding, contracts, ethics, integrity, risk management, research policy, national security, post-award, IP management and commercialisation and research data intelligence. The Research Stewardship team supports UTS and its researchers to conduct and manage research activities ethically, conscientiously, and transparently.
About the Role
This position plays a key role in leading, managing and supporting research integrity at UTS, including championing a responsible research culture, and providing training, advice and support to the UTS research community. The role is also responsible for managing and investigating concerns and complaints relating to potential breaches of research integrity by staff.
In addition to supporting research integrity, the incumbent supports research governance through the development and oversight of policies, audit and compliance, as well as oversight of pan-university strategic and operational research risks. The role also works to enhance and better position our suite of policies relating to or affecting research conduct at UTS, to ensure they are better utilised and understood.
If successful in applying for this role, you will be responsible for:
- Leading and managing research integrity complaints in line with the Australian Code..
- Promoting a culture of research integrity at UTS through advice, education, and training for staff and HDR students.
- Managing a community of practice for Research Integrity Advisors and champion sector-leading practices.
- Overseeing research governance by reviewing and developing policies, monitoring audit action implementation, and identifying and raising any research governance gaps or risks. .
- Ensuring integrity and governance responsibilities are understood, fairly managed, and valued across UTS
With examples, please outline within your Cover Letter, how you meet the following key selection criteria:
- Experience in the management of investigations and complaints pertaining to the responsible conduct of research.
- Demonstrated experience in exercising a high level of initiative, tact and discretion in dealing with matters of a highly confidential or controversial nature.
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to be creative in providing proactive advice and generating solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to understand, interpret and implement complex legislation, policies and reporting guidelines, and a proven ability to quickly acquire knowledge and understanding of the requirements and implications of external policies, procedures and legislative requirements to the University.
- Outstanding relationship management skills, with a track record of engaging and influencing a wide range of diverse stakeholders.
- Superior oral and written communication skills with the ability to provide authoritative advice and communicate effectively, presenting complex information in a simple way.
Remuneration & Benefits
Base Salary Range: $138,882 to $145,495 pa (HEW 9)
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a continuing basis.
