AST Oceanics is looking for a Marine Project Engineer to join our team on contract basis for 6-12 months full time with a possible extension. Experience within marine vessel technical management and marine engineering background is required. We are looking for a candidate (Perth/Darwin based) to support on various projects of maintenance upkeep cycle.

We are looking for a candidate (Perth or Darwin based) on a contract basis for support on various projects of maintenance upkeep cycle. General duties and responsibilities include:
Responsibilities
assist with client vessel technical management.
general assistant for engineering.
assisting compiling and writing technical information for vessel training manuals and PMS system.
assisting with management of vessel engineering changes including configuration change management.
assisting with liaising and engaging contractors to attend the vessel to carry out repairs.
any other ad hoc engineering support as required.
coordinate activities including facilitating the availability of necessary drawings, technical manuals including supervising the activities conducted by the shipyard.
providing contractors with all necessary documentation such as drawings, supplier manuals and datasheets to successfully carryout the maintenance jobs.
provided support to the Fleet Technical Manager and Technical Superintendent for administrative tasks.
draft and populate the bi-weekly/daily reports.
collect and verify contractor service reports.
travelling to Darwin to support with adhoc projects.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
NC3 Engineer or Class 2
Right to work in Australia
Currently reside in Australia (Preferably Perth/Darwin)
2-3 years’ experience within Maritime industry
Marine Engineering Qualification
Vessel Technical Management
Good safety culture
Knowledge of Class/AMSA requirement
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to self-manage and work as part of a team
Optional Qualifications/Skills:
AMSA/Near Coastal Medical
Elements of Shipboard Safety or higher
Experience working with Safety Management Systems
Experience in government / defence maritime industry is highly desirable
Confined space / working at heights
