Are you an experienced mechanical trade professional seeking a challenging role in the gas pipeline industry? We're looking for a skilled Technical Officer with previous gas pipeline experience to join our client's team in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia on a FIFO roster. This is a great opportunity to leverage your expertise in a key role supporting critical infrastructure.
This is a 12-month casual position with the potential for extension. The roster follows a 15 days on, 13 days off pattern, with each working day consisting of 10.13 hours. The role offers a flat hourly rate of $90, in addition to a daily meal allowance of $118.
The preferred candidate will be based in Perth and fly in/out to Kalgoorlie, working across the Leonora region of Western Australia. A company vehicle will be provided for work-related travel, and accommodation is included in a company share house, which will be shared with one other colleague.
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining a compressor stations and its mechanical and instrumentation systems that are crucial to our client's gas pipeline operations. Your duties will include leading and executing projects related to mechanical and instrumentation installations, upgrades, and repairs. You will ensure that all systems are maintained efficiently, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement strategies for system optimization.
Additional day to day duties include:
- Isolations
- Operating/maintaining
- Gas engine alternations
- Exposure to the turbines
You will be responsible for ensuring that all activities comply with industry safety regulations and standards. Conducting regular safety audits and risk assessments will be part of your role to maintain a safe working environment. Additionally, you will manage and mentor technical staff, providing them with training and support to enhance their skills and performance.
Maintaining detailed records of all technical work is essential, including documentation of maintenance logs, technical reports, and system modifications. You will also need to work closely with other departments and stakeholders to address technical challenges and support operational goals.
Key selection criteria:
- At least 2 years of experience in mechanical and instrumentation systems, within the oil & gas pipeline
- Relevant technical qualifications in mechanical fitting (dual trade is ideal)
- Drivers licence (essential)
- High risk work licence - Confined spaces, Working at heights, EWP, LF (LF is essential)
- Strong fault finding abilities
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail are crucial
- Demonstrated experience in managing projects and working within technical teams is also important
- Ability to work autonomously in isolation
- Willing to work on an 'on call' roster
