CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER - INSPIRATIONAL LEADER
. Broad Finance, ICT & Facilities responsibilities
. Major Ballarat based NFP - understand grant space?
. $200,000+ salary package + benefits + regional lifestyle
I have worked with this major NFP for many years now. Impressively, they provide a well regarded range of support services across a wide geographic area. They are well led by a strategically thinking CEO and, under that person, have grown in both reputation and financial strength. There is no denying, however, that government funding underpins many of their major initiatives. As you can imagine, in these tough times, funding can be unpredictable and ever changing. This is where your skills will come to the fore.
As the CEO said to me, of course this person is responsible for the numbers and financial reporting at Board level, but the role goes so much further. Analysing the numbers and trends, completing “what if” and scenario analysis, looking at systems and processes and identifying opportunities for improvement are all vital to success. Add on top being the right hand to the CEO and contributing to overarching strategy and direction, whilst predicting trends and ensuring financial viability is maintained is key.
Being quite up front, you’ll be inheriting a function that has got the day to day numbers right. What is needed now is that bigger picture view of the organisation, its services and funding. It’s providing well reasoned, data driven, commercially savvy advice right across the organisation. It includes developing the business skills of managers and providing them with the information and support needed to make the right, impactful plans and decisions. It’s identifying potential sources of funding.
You’ll be supported by a team of around 10 people. They will welcome engaged leadership and professional development around being out and about in the business, providing well considered support to line functions rather than just sitting at their desks. Similarly, your peers and managers will welcome your advice and guidance on all things finance, accounting and ICT. External stakeholders abound - government at all levels, community, allied NFPs, the list goes on. You can expect involvement with them as well.
And you? Obviously you have relevant Accounting/ Business qualifications and remain contemporary through ongoing PD. You’re already working at this level and have made a difference through effective leadership and change management. You’re not status quo and combine strategic planning and strong hands on finance, accounting and reporting skills. Ideally you understand the challenges of the community sector and the vagaries of funding and the need to be always thinking ahead. You’re a proven trusted advisor at CEO and Board level.
So, if you are ready for the challenge and would welcome the opportunity to combine career challenge, the chance to make a major contribution AND a regional lifestyle without the commuter chaos and inflated housing prices of the city, please make contact. We would prefer you to live in/around, or relocate to, Ballarat, ideally being no more than an hour away.
Please apply by sending your resume via the Seek link. If you’d like an initial conversation, please call David Reddin on 0408 336 790.
