As a BOH/Kitchen staff member at Wineism, you will play an integral role in supporting the kitchen operations to ensure smooth service in our wine-focused venue. You will assist with basic food prep, plating dishes, maintaining cleanliness, and help keep the kitchen running efficiently while complying with health and safety regulations. Your contributions will help deliver a great experience for our guests and support our small but essential food offerings.

Key Responsibilities:
Kitchen Setup & Food Prep
Set up the kitchen for service, ensuring all equipment and surfaces are clean and ready for use
Assist with basic food prep tasks following clear instructions
Study and follow simple recipes while preparing ingredients for each dish.
Prepare and serve dishes with a focus on quality, presentation, and timeliness.
Cleaning & Hygiene
Wash dishes and clean kitchen equipment, benches, and floors
Follow food safety and hygiene standards at all times
Assist with end-of-day cleaning and pack down, ensuring everything is in its place
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workspace.
Stock Monitoring & Organisation
Unpack deliveries and store items correctly
Restock kitchen supplies during service as needed
Help complete order sheets for kitchen stock, ensuring that necessary items are accurately recorded
Notify the Venue Manager if stock levels are low or ingredients are running out
Check ingredient freshness and discard items past their prime
Working Independently & Supporting the Team
Be comfortable working solo during slower shifts, keeping the kitchen organised and ready for service
Support front-of-house staff by ensuring dishes are prepared and plated in a timely manner
Stay calm under pressure, especially during busy periods
Who You Are
A passion for hospitality excellence and delivering top-notch service
Strong skills in food preparation, plating, and presentation
Familiarity with various kitchen equipment, including grills, ovens, and kitchen scales
Up-to-date knowledge of basic cooking techniques, ingredients, and culinary trends
Ability to manage time effectively and remain calm under pressure
Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards
Reliable, organised, and able to work efficiently both as part of a team and independently
Comfortable with completing simple administrative tasks like order sheets
Willing to learn and follow direction
Available for casual shifts, including weekends, especially Friday nights
