We are seeking a dedicated professional to play a pivotal role in providing a range of governance services. As part of a close-knit and high-performing team, your work will directly impact the delivery of essential local government services, helping maintain transparency, integrity, and accountability across the organisation. Your responsibilities will be varied, ranging from providing expert advice, advising on governance policies and delegations to managing access to information requests and assisting with the management of complaints. In this role, your adaptability and ability to prioritise will be key to effectively managing a dynamic workload, ensuring that the needs of the community are met with efficiency and professionalism.

About the role:
  • Provide expert governance advice, ensuring policies, delegations, and authorisations align with legislative and organisational standards.
  • Manage privacy programs, assist with complaint handling, and compliance with relevant legislation to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Support the development and maintenance of Council’s governance frameworks and corporate registers.
  • Facilitate training on governance, integrity, and legislative compliance matters to internal staff and stakeholders.
  • Supervise staff, ensuring effective task coordination and performance management in a busy and dynamic work environment.

We are seeking:
  • A diploma in a relevant discipline.
  • Proven experience in providing governance guidance and implementing/supporting governance frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of contemporary governance and legislative requirements.
  • Experience in processing access to information requests and understanding related legislation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report preparation, stakeholder liaison, influencing, negotiation, research, and participation in working groups and committees.
  • Ability to analyse issues and develop solutions.

This position is based in Murwillumbah, and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
