Strange Servant Cafe is a vibrant and buzzing cafe nestled in the heart of Dingley Village. We are committed to delivering outstanding food and service, and we're looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team.

The Role:
As a Senior Chef, you will play a pivotal role in leading our kitchen team, creating delicious and innovative menus, and ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen on a daily basis. You’ll bring your leadership experience to the table, together with the owner you will be responsible for the creation and development of menus, This will also include some admin in cataloging recipe cards for kitchen staff and calculating the food cost or dishes and prep items. We’re seeking someone who is not only skilled in the kitchen but also thrives in a fast-paced environment and values teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the kitchen team to ensure efficient and high-quality food preparation.

Assist in the creation and development of menus.

Oversee food costing and ensure profitability.

Maintain a high standard of food safety and cleanliness.

Train and mentor junior kitchen staff.

Manage stock and order supplies as needed.

Ensure smooth kitchen operations, including managing shifts and schedules.

Requirements:

Proven experience in a senior kitchen role, including leadership experience.

A passion for creating high-quality, seasonal menus.

Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen operations.

Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Ability to work under pressure and lead by example.

Availability to work 5 days a week, including weekends and public holidays.

Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents are encouraged to apply.

Minimum Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.

Minimum 2 year of experience in a similar culinary leadership role.

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and a proactive approach to problem-solving
