The role in a nutshell

As our Senior Accountant, you'll be the primary client liaison and most senior person on multiple client accounts. You won't just oversee financial processes—you'll drive client success by delivering both rock-solid financial control and game-changing financial insights. You will be a key senior hire and guiding light in our growing business, and you’ll find fulfillment in giving our clients peace of mind as well as exciting financial performance intel.

What you'll actually do

Own the client relationship - be the go-to financial expert clients call first when they need advice

Deliver our financial control services – oversee the Slate methodology to ensure financial systems run smoothly, compliance obligations are met, and processes are continuously improved

Provide financial insight services - help clients grow through smart financial analysis, performance guidance, and actionable advice

Lead a team - supervise accounting and bookkeeping staff on your accounts in both Australia and our Jaipur office

Manage commercial outcomes - balance delivering exceptional value with maintaining Slate's profitability targets

Help build our practice - contribute to Slate's thought leadership and growth

Who we need

Minimum 10 years in accounting roles with diverse Australian businesses

CPA/CA qualification (required)

Experience working in an accounting firm or as an external financial advisor

Proven track record managing client relationships

Strong business acumen and communication skills

Leadership skills and experience supervising accounting/ bookkeeping teams – local and foreign

BAS agent registration (preferred)

Certification in Xero, MYOB, or QBO (preferred)

Position reports to the managing director with oversight of a mixed skill accounts teams. This hybrid role based in Melbourne with flexible work arrangements including office, client premises, and WFH options. Own transport required.
