The service:
Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services (DACS) aims to improve health and reduce harm for individuals, their families and carers and the wider community.

DACS is a specialist treatment service for people with substance use problems. Harm Minimisation is a key tenet of the model of care. It is a multidisciplinary service that includes nursing, medical and allied health clinicians alongside peer support and Aboriginal health workers. DACS operates in a range of community, outpatient and inpatient settings, providing prevention, early intervention drug and alcohol assessment and treatment counselling and case management throughout Hunter New England Health.

The role:
In this role, you’ll utilise your advanced clinical skills to assess, plan, and deliver high-quality, individualised nursing care. Collaborating with Hunter New England Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services, you’ll support primary treating teams while providing a Drug and Alcohol Consultation Liaison service to emergency departments, inpatient wards, and outpatient clinics. As part of this role, you’ll have the opportunity to complete an orientation at John Hunter Hospital serving as a Clinical Liaison. In this capacity, you’ll provide recommendations for patients with substance use issues, enhancing care delivery and outcomes. You’ll also have the opportunity to share your expertise by delivering in-service training and contributing to the development of specialty clinical practices.

Opportunity to work with the MERIT program helping defendants with substance use issues focus on rehabilitation prior to sentencing.

Tamworth typically offers more affordable housing options compared to major metropolitan areas. You can often find larger homes or properties with more land for the same price as a smaller apartment in a city.

Overall living costs, including groceries, utilities, and transportation, are generally lower in rural areas like Tamworth, allowing for better financial stability and savings.

Tamworth has a range of public and private schools that often have smaller class sizes, allowing for more personalised attention and a strong community focus.

Comprehensive orientation and ongoing external education opportunities.

Access to monthly DACS education sessions.

Supportive team and mentorship.

ADO's each month (for full time employees).

Salary packaging options.

Fitness Passport.
