About Centrecare

The Role
Located in a purpose-built building on the grounds of the Gosnells Primary School, the Community Officer works 3 days a week supporting the Centre Coordinator and playgroup leader to provide a range of early childhood and family focused initiatives delivered at and through the Child and Parent Centre to promote ongoing engagement, and participation of parents and families.
A Few Specifics:

  • Actively engage in community development and liaison with external agencies.
  • Maintain established relationships with relevant organisations and further develop and engage in networking opportunities.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of community needs
  • Maintain an up-to-date listing of community resources.
  • In consultation with the coordinator develop strategies to engage parent and families within the local community.
  • Undertake research and project work when required.
  • Assist in the planning, facilitation and organisation of group parenting sessions for parents, families and children.

About You

  • Recognised tertiary level qualification in Early Childhood or Human Services.
  • Knowledge of the local community to effectively engage with community and build relationships.
  • Experience in early childhood development and family support services.
  • Demonstrated ability in program planning.
  • Cultural competence and inclusivity.
  • Excellent Communication (written and verbal) time management skills and ability to multitask.
  • Knowledge of Child Development, National Quality Standards and Early Years Learning Framework is desired.
  • Experience working with families, parents and children from diverse cultural backgrounds and dialects.
  • Current WA 'C' class driver’s licence.
  • Satisfactory and valid Working with Children Check that will not preclude the candidate from working or having contact with children and/or vulnerable adults.
  • National Police Certificate or ability to obtain one.
