Purpose of the position

The IFS caseworker’s primary role is to support the Team Leader by providing front line case management to families experiencing diverse and often complex circumstances, placing them at high risk of entering the statutory (child protection) system.

Responsibilities and duties

  • Provide front-line case management support to respond to the complex needs of clients, and build upon and strengthen the capacity of parents to safely and adequately care their child(ren).
  • Demonstrate thorough and holistic assessment, clear communication, and time sensitive support to families.
  • Uphold best practice and consistent service delivery alongside IFS team, internal programs, and external agencies.
  • Maintain positive and effective partnerships and collaborative case management processes with external and internal services.
  • Work flexibly alongside the Family Wellbeing service and provide outreach, in-home support, and practical assistance to families.
  • Collaborate with internal CQID programs to enhance assessment strategies and outcomes in the development of case plans to keep children safe.
  • Build respectful and professional relationships with service users, agencies, partners, community, colleagues, elders, and clients.
  • Work at all times to advance the reputation of CQID and undertake additional relevant duties as required.
  • Be accountable for achieving targets, including indicators that support service delivery and CQID strategic and operational plans.
  • Participate and contribute to the organisation’s compliance obligations under the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and Human Services Quality Standards (HSQS)
  • At all times work within CQID’s Workplace Health & Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Other responsibilities as directed by Team Leader.

Qualifications and experience

Essential

  • Holds a current C Class Queensland Driver’s Licence
  • Current Working with Children Check, “Blue Card”
  • Holds or is willing to obtain a First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Current Child Safety Personal History Screening Check
  • Qualifications or knowledge related to Child Protection
  • Experience at successful service delivery to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Experienced in client engagement and case collaboration
  • Experience providing targeted assessment and therapeutic services to families, caregivers, young people, and children in a child protection framework

Skills and Attributes

  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage – [Note: Non-Indigenous applicants will only be considered if no suitable Indigenous candidates are attracted in the first round of applicants]
  • Ability to communicate effectively; spoken and written.
  • Competent in use of Microsoft Office software
  • Physical ability to undertake job responsibilities
  • Self-starter, motivated and able to self-manage work tasks
  • Strong connection to and knowledge of local Indigenous Community
